Mechanical Design Engineer – Railway Electrification

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will join a global engineering team focused on developing innovative railway electrification components. The role involves designing, industrialising and validating mechanical parts for systems such as Rigid Overhead Catenary, Third Rail, and ground‑level solutions like APM and monorail.

Key responsibilities

• Create 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Perform FEM simulations for structural, electric and thermal analysis.
• Collaborate with quality, industrialisation, manufacturing and supply‑chain teams during homologation.
• Support the transition from design to production, ensuring compliance with QCD commitments.
• Maintain documentation and report progress to the Engineering & R&D Manager.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with experience in electrification products.
• Hands‑on approach with strong time‑management and reporting skills.
• Good communication skills, including interaction with suppliers.
• Fluent in English for reading, writing and technical meetings.

Required skills

• AutoCAD
• SolidWorks (including Simulation/FEM module)
• Basic electric and thermal calculation abilities
• Understanding of manufacturing technologies
• Familiarity with SAP or GSI production planning (PP) tools
