Mechanical Engineer – Design of Contactless Measurement Systems

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will design complete mechanical systems for contactless measurement solutions used in railway and steelworks applications. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will create assemblies, sub‑assemblies and related parts while ensuring compliance with international standards and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure designs meet project specifications, legal regulations and standards.
• Respect project milestones agreed with the Project Manager and Team Leader.
• Minimize manufacturing and assembly costs.
• Create 3D models, mechanical BOMs and detailed 2D production drawings.
• Produce layout drawings and estimate implementation effort for tasks.
• Document design specifications and implementation details.
• Collaborate with optical, electrical and electronic engineers on system interfaces.
• Work with Supply Chain, Operations and Quality Control to guarantee part and product quality.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3‑5 years experience as a mechanical designer of medium‑complexity machines.
• 3‑5 years experience with manufacturing processes (machined, welded, milled, sheet‑metal parts).
• 3‑5 years experience using 2D/3D CAD (PTC Creo preferred).
• 3‑5 years experience with PLM/ERP systems (PTC Windchill preferred).
• Knowledge of FEM analysis, design for manufacturing and design for assembly (appreciated).
• Good written and spoken English (minimum B2 level, nice to have).
• Familiarity with EU directives and international technical standards.
