Payable Accountant – ESA (Frascati, Italy)

About the role

Octagon Professionals is seeking a Payable Accountant to join the Accounts Payable service supporting ESA’s ESRIN site in Frascati. You will work with the Financial Operations Division to analyse, validate and approve supplier payments while ensuring compliance with ESA accounting policies and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Verify and register invoices and advances in the ESA‑P system.
• Validate vendor master and bank details and ensure correct account assignment.
• Post invoices, pre‑approve advance payment requests and coordinate final approval with ESA staff.
• Control and clear down payments according to the Offset Plan and identify payments ready for processing.
• Collaborate with internal colleagues and ESA initiating services on invoice verification, processing and reimbursement requests.
• Prepare ad‑hoc reports and handle special accounts‑payable tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role.
• Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills for operating complex accounting systems.
• Service‑oriented attitude, team spirit and ability to work in an international environment.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); additional ESA language or Italian is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP (ECC and SRM modules).
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
• Familiarity with VIM/OpenText (Vendor Invoice Management) and electronic mailing systems.
• Knowledge of ESA‑P or similar corporate finance applications is an asset.
