Post‑Doc Researcher – Media Framing & Minority Perceptions

About the role

We are seeking a post‑doc researcher to join the DIDI project, which examines how media framing influences perceptions of majority and minority communities in South Tyrol. The role combines qualitative social‑science methods with advanced quantitative text‑analysis techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the project, coordinate with stakeholders and research partners, and oversee communication and dissemination activities.
• Map South Tyrol’s media landscape through desk research and stakeholder interviews.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of media content, discourse, and audience reception across print and social media.
• Support partners in Natural Language Processing (NLP) analyses and the development of NLP tools.
• Draft interim and final reports, publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals, and organise conferences and events.

Required profile

• PhD in communication science, political science, sociology or a related social‑science discipline.
• Proven experience in independently conducting research projects.
• Strong knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Fluent in German and Italian; English proficiency is an advantage.
• Excellent time‑management, organisational and teamwork skills, with willingness to travel.

• Fixed‑term full‑time position (36 months) with a gross annual salary between €44,247.32 and €46,566.16.
