Principal Medical Science Liaison

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Principal Medical Science Liaison to lead scientific exchange and evidence generation across its eye‑care portfolio. This remote position supports the Medical Affairs team and engages with eye‑care professionals throughout the assigned region.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with medical experts and key opinion leaders to address scientific and clinical challenges.
• Deliver scientific presentations, participate in congresses, and conduct peer‑to‑peer engagements.
• Support Investigator‑Initiated Trials from concept through publication, including grant approval and synopsis review.
• Collect, analyse, and report insights from interactions with eye‑care professionals to influence clinical practice and strategic planning.
• Mentor and train new MSLs and team members.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Ophthalmology or Optometry.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in ophthalmology or optometry, with at least 2 years in the ophthalmic device or pharmaceutical industry.
• Proven ability to build credible scientific relationships with KOLs.
• Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and high integrity.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of eye diseases, ophthalmic surgical procedures, and optometry.
• Clinical trial design and execution, including post‑market research.
• Evidence‑based medicine, regulatory requirements, payer landscape, and biostatistics.
