Programme Associate – Emergency Operations (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The Programme Associate (Emergency Operations Center) supports UNICEF’s Emergency Operations Centre (OPSCEN) in delivering real‑time information and communication services for humanitarian crises. Based in Istanbul, the role works within the Office of Emergency Programmes (EMOPS) and reports to the Emergency Officer (P2) with secondary supervision from the OPSCEN Manager (P3).

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 global information and communication services to enhance situational awareness during emergencies.
• Facilitate the sharing of emergency and security‑related information across UNICEF country offices.
• Support rapid crisis communications and act as the first point of contact during critical incidents.
• Collaborate with the Office of Security Coordination to ensure security‑risk‑informed decision‑making.
• Contribute to the preparation and response planning for humanitarian crises in line with UNICEF’s strategic plan and Core Commitments for Children.

Required profile

• Open to EU citizens or holders of a valid Italian work permit.
• Experience or strong interest in humanitarian emergency operations.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, 24/7 environment and handle sensitive information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
