Project Manager - Project Logistics

About the role

Maersk Project Logistics (MPL) is hiring a Project Manager to join its MPL Operations team in Genoa, Italy. The role executes project logistics solutions for complex shipments of containerized, heavy lift and oversized (OOG) cargo, mainly serving the Italian market with occasional coverage of Central Europe and Adriatic countries. The position is on site.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute complex project cargo operations end to end, keeping to timelines, budget and customer requirements
• Deliver safe, efficient, high-quality solutions in line with customer needs and internal processes, including on-site supervision where required
• Prepare and maintain shipment documentation, escalate operational issues and propose mitigating solutions
• Report milestones and status updates to customers and work closely with them, vendors, partners and internal stakeholders
• Create vendors in compliance with global process and source and procure according to the Global Authority Matrix and the Procurement department's framework, evaluating proposals for best value and quality
• Update operational systems and tools (CargoWise) from file creation to invoicing, drive operational KPIs and follow the MPL Standard Billing Cycle and Job Costing Policy
• Identify ways to improve project profitability and contribute to process standardisation and continuous improvement

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience with a proven track record in project freight forwarding
• Deep understanding of global supply chains and strong knowledge of the Italian project logistics market
• Good customer know-how and vendor relationships with containerized and oversized cargo service providers
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, matrix organisation and to handle stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment
• Fluency in English and Italian (verbal and written)
• Willingness and ability to travel as required by projects
