Regional Medical Director (RMD), Metabolics/Obesity (EU)

About the role

The Regional Medical Director (RMD) for Metabolics/Obesity will join the clinical sciences group and support the metabolic portfolio across the EU. The role focuses on site engagement, training, recruitment oversight, and ensuring high‑quality clinical data throughout the study lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain regular touchpoints with study sites, conduct site initiation visits (SIVs) and periodic site visits (PSVs), and provide retraining as needed.
• Identify and qualify new sites in collaboration with Clinical Trial Leaders (CTL), and troubleshoot patient recruitment challenges.
• Serve as the first line of medical contact for site queries, update FAQs, and coordinate responses with the Medical Director.
• Perform eligibility checks, address urgent eligibility questions, and support rapid randomisation.
• Assist sites in closing medical queries, ensuring clear communication and providing feedback to study teams.
• Oversee safety event documentation, collaborate with Clinical Research Associates (CRAs) for escalation, and ensure completeness of follow‑up assessments.
• Collaborate with CTL to retrain sites on protocol deviations and prevent future occurrences.
• Support patient retention efforts, manage lost‑to‑follow‑up cases, and ensure protocol‑specific requirements are met.
• Drive resolution of missing assessments (e.g., laboratory values, imaging, PK samples) by coordinating with CRAs and CTLs.

Required profile

• Medical degree with extensive experience in clinical research, preferably in metabolic or obesity therapeutic areas.
• Proven ability to engage and train multiple study sites across diverse EU regions.
• Strong understanding of clinical trial operations, eligibility criteria, safety reporting, and protocol compliance.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with investigators, site staff, and internal teams.
