Safety Engineer (EHS / RSPP)

About the role

The Safety Engineer supports Applied Materials' R&D and manufacturing operations, working closely with site management and EHS staff to drive environmental, health and safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance and promote continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Drive EHS programs and ensure compliance with codes, standards and regulations.
• Act as liaison with local, regional or national regulatory authorities.
• Conduct EHS training for employees and management.
• Investigate EHS incidents and lead corrective actions to closure.
• Provide management updates and escalations on projects and programs.
• Maintain communication channels with site functions and internal stakeholders.
• Manage consultants/contractors, including scope definition, project and budget management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, mechanical or electronics engineering (or comparable).
• RSPP occupational safety engineer certificate (required).
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in an EHS role within R&D or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Italian EHS legislation and experience with EHS auditing.
• Fluent in English and Italian (written and verbal).
• Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 20% of the time).

• Proficiency with PowerPoint.
• Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and tools for decision‑making and workflow automation.
