Senior Solutions Architect – EDW Migrations

About the role

Databricks is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect focused on Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) migrations, based in Milan. The role works with leadership, product and account teams to help customers migrate their EDW to the Databricks Intelligence Platform, and is paired with Product Specialists for Data and Governance. It covers the EMEA region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the regional migration strategy with EMEA GTM leadership and account teams, defining the technical GTM and adoption approach for large-scale EDW migrations.
• Architect and refine programmatic assets and detailed technical guides so field teams and partners can carry out migrations.
• Maintain, enhance and direct the development of automated assessment tools built from customer engagements.
• Act as the tier-3 technical escalation point for complex, strategic or stalled migrations in must-win accounts across EMEA.
• Scale the regional presales migration practice by mentoring and coaching Solutions Architects and Specialist SAs.
• Provide technical feedback to Product Management and Engineering, and author whitepapers, technical blogs and present at events such as the Data + AI Summit.

Required profile

• 8+ years of customer-facing experience in a pre-sales, architect or consulting role, influencing technical executives (CIOs, CISOs, DBAs, Platform Leads).
• Understanding of legacy EDW systems (Teradata, Netezza, Snowflake, Synapse, Redshift, Exadata) and the architectures needed to move workloads to the Databricks platform.
• Experience collaborating with Professional Services and Global Systems Integrators to standardize migration delivery.

Required skills

• Lakehouse architecture, with hands-on experience of Apache Spark, Python and SQL.
• Public cloud architecture in AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

The pay range for Italy is EUR 112,700 to EUR 140,325, and the package may also include eligibility for an annual performance bonus, equity and benefits.
