Ship’s Doctor – Cruise Ship Assignment

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Ship’s Doctor to join the medical team of a prestigious passenger cruise line sailing under the Italian flag. The doctor will provide comprehensive medical care to passengers and crew while operating within a structured onboard medical department supervised by a Medical Director.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver primary and emergency medical treatment to passengers and crew members.
• Manage acute and chronic health conditions, including triage, stabilization, and referral to shore‑based facilities when necessary.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic health records.
• Participate in health and safety drills, including medical emergencies and evacuation procedures.
• Collaborate with the onboard medical team to ensure compliance with maritime health regulations.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care or a related field.
• Minimum three years of post‑graduate clinical experience and at least six months in emergency settings (ER, ICU, ambulance, etc.).
• Enrollment in the Italian Doctors Professional Order and recognition of qualifications by the Italian Ministry of Health (for EU candidates).
• Fluent in English (B2) and conversational Italian (B1).
• Willingness to work onboard for approximately six months per year, divided into 3‑4 month contracts.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
• Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS) certification.
• STCW navigation certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Strong clinical documentation and IT proficiency.
