Software Developer Engineer – Embedded Systems

About the role

ANNAX, a Wabtec Cooperation, is building a new development team in Piossasco, Italy to strengthen its tram projects. We are looking for an experienced Software Developer Engineer to design and implement embedded software solutions for passenger information systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design module and framework extensions using object‑oriented methods.
• Define tasks, work packages and deliverables.
• Develop, test, and document code following clean‑code principles.
• Maintain and enhance build systems; configure and integrate ANNAX software and Linux services.
• Analyze issues, fix bugs and apply cybersecurity rules.
• Evaluate and prototype new technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Motivated, independent and willing to travel occasionally within Europe and internationally.
• Legal authorization to work in the EU.

Required skills

• C++ (minimum 3 years of experience).
• Linux and embedded Linux environments.
• Python and Bash scripting.
• Documentation tools: Doxygen, Sphinx, PlantUML.
• Version control: Git, GitLab.
• Unit testing, IP networking and protocols.
• SQL databases.
• Build tools: gcc, make, CMake (experience with Conan or Yocto is a plus).
• DevOps knowledge: GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible (optional).
• Containerization technologies (optional).
• Embedded hardware experience (optional).
