Software Engineer – C++/Qt

About the role

ASEM, part of Rockwell Automation, is looking for a Software Engineer specialized in C++ and Qt to join its development team in Italy. The position is hybrid, based in either Verona or Bologna, and is open to recent graduates as well as experienced professionals who want to contribute to innovative industrial software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug C++ software components for new products and enhancements.
• Develop and maintain Qt‑based native and embedded user interfaces.
• Apply multithreading and concurrency concepts to ensure performance, stability, and responsiveness.
• Support software‑hardware integration by assessing hardware compatibility and influencing design decisions.
• Manage assigned software components throughout their lifecycle, including implementation, testing, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Degree or technical diploma in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model from the Verona or Bologna office.
• Motivation to work on industrial automation and IoT solutions.

Required skills

• Programming languages: C++ (primary), C#, Python.
• User‑interface framework: Qt for native/embedded UI.
• Operating systems & architectures: Linux, Embedded Linux, Realtime Linux, Windows; ARM and x86 platforms.
• Concurrency: threading, multithreading, synchronization.
• Version control & delivery: Git (git‑flow), CI/CD pipelines, automated testing.
• Agile/SCRUM development methodology.
