STEM PhD – AI Data Specialist (Remote, $60–$80/hr)

About the role

Mercor is seeking experienced STEM PhDs to work remotely as AI Data Specialists. You will apply your domain expertise to improve the quality of training data used in cutting‑edge AI research projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop challenging, domain‑specific problems that enhance AI model training.
• Evaluate and refine AI model outputs through rigorous data analysis.
• Collaborate with AI research teams to improve training data quality.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet project deadlines.

Required profile

• PhD in a STEM discipline from a US, UK, Canadian, or European university.
• High attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work remotely 15–20 hours per week on a contract basis.
