Sustainability Specialist (Temporary, 12 Months)

About the role

ABB is looking for a Sustainability Specialist for a 12-month temporary position in Frosinone, supporting the Operations HSE Management at the Frosinone and Ferentino ABB sites. The role reports to the HSE Manager and contributes to improving sustainability performance in its area of responsibility, applying the group-wide sustainability strategy and giving feedback on lessons learned and best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Italian environmental law, mainly Legislative Decree 152/2006 and regional regulations
• Manage and coordinate key environmental permits, including AUA and water discharge management (Title IV)
• Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, classification, labeling, storage and tracking through RENTRI registers
• Run ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 management systems, including internal audits and corrective actions
• Work with the HSE Manager and external authorities during inspections and controls
• Train internal staff and customers weekly on environmental and sustainability practices
• Help report sustainability progress against KPIs and drive behavioural change through local programmes
• Contribute to, plan and execute sustainability projects and report progress to management

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry or a related technical field
• 1-2 years of professional experience in an environmental role in manufacturing, industry or environmental consulting in Italy
• In-depth knowledge of Italian environmental legislation, especially Legislative Decree 152/2006
• Fluent Italian (mandatory) and strong professional English
• Preferred: ISO 14001/ISO 5001 auditor certification or EMAS experience

Required skills

• Proficiency in digital environmental tools such as electronic waste registries and RENTRI
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail
• Good communication and stakeholder management, including with public authorities (ARPA, provinces, regions)
