System Administrator – Galileo Ground Segment

About the role

We are seeking two experienced System Administrators to support the Galileo satellite navigation system’s ground segment. You will work in a high‑availability environment across one of our European sites, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the IT infrastructure that keeps Europe’s GNSS services running.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking devices, cryptographic systems, and other critical IT services.
• Deploy and manage containerised services and virtualised environments (e.g., VMware).
• Integrate and test new software and hardware releases before production rollout.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot incidents, and implement automation to improve availability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external partners to ensure seamless operation of the Galileo ground segment.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of system administration experience in a complex IT environment (space, aerospace, telecom, etc.).
• Eligibility for security clearance and willingness to travel within Europe.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Windows and Linux system administration.
• Virtualisation technologies such as VMware.
• Networking concepts including routing, switch configuration, firewalls and VPNs.
• Automation and scripting with PowerShell, Bash, Python or Ansible.
