Tax Manager – VAT (Italy)

About the role

Our client, a global leader in VAT compliance and tax technology, is seeking an experienced VAT Manager to become the in‑house technical lead for Italy. You will provide expert guidance on complex Italian VAT matters, support international teams and help shape the firm’s VAT offering.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical specialist for all Italian VAT issues.
• Support compliance teams with complex or non‑standard VAT cases.
• Lead tax authority audits and enquiries, liaising with the Agenzia delle Entrate.
• Oversee VAT refund claims and related correspondence.
• Review and quality‑assure complex VAT filings.
• Develop and improve internal VAT compliance processes and quality standards.
• Monitor legislative changes and keep the business informed.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in taxation with strong expertise in Italian VAT.
• Extensive experience in VAT compliance and refund processes.
• Proven track record managing tax authority audits and enquiries.
• Relevant degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Law or equivalent, with recognised tax advisor status in Italy.
• Fluent in Italian and professional‑level English.
