Technical Account Manager – FCC Catalysts

About the role

Join BASF’s Catalysts Division as a Technical Account Manager focused on Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) catalysts. You will act as the primary technical expert for FCC catalyst applications, supporting refinery customers across Southern Europe and the Mediterranean.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on technical support, troubleshooting, unit optimisation and performance improvement at customer sites.
• Conduct FCC technical evaluations, simulations and modelling to underpin recommendations and proposals.
• Own full P&L responsibility for assigned FCC accounts, including volume, margin, pricing, receivables, forecasting and CRM management.
• Develop and execute account strategies, negotiate pricing and commercial terms, and drive contract negotiations.
• Identify new business opportunities, expand account penetration and position BASF’s FCC catalyst portfolio to increase market share.
• Build strong relationships with refinery engineers, operations teams and decision‑makers, acting as the interface between customers and internal BASF technical, R&D and business teams.
• Travel 30‑50% of the time to customer sites across the region.

Required profile

• Degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in refining with deep expertise in FCC operations and catalysts (mandatory).
• Proven track record in a customer‑facing FCC technical or commercial role.
• Ability to perform FCC process analysis, modelling and technical evaluations.
• Experience managing multiple refinery accounts in an international environment.
• Commercial mindset with success in pricing and contract negotiations.
• Familiarity with the Southern Europe / Mediterranean refining landscape.
