Transport Planner

About the role

Samskip, a leading international provider of sustainable multimodal transport solutions, is looking for a Transport Planner to join its Cernusco sul Naviglio team. You will be responsible for planning and optimizing daily trucking operations while supporting the company’s broader logistics network.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and oversee daily trucking operations, ensuring smooth execution and proactive issue resolution.
• Optimize truck planning based on haulier availability to maximize resource efficiency and on‑time delivery.
• Drive transportation cost optimisation, focusing on round‑trip efficiency by combining deliveries and collections.
• Collaborate with Customer Service teams to maintain clear, timely communication and high service quality.
• Manage equipment flows across road and rail networks to support day‑to‑day operations.
• Monitor operational and administrative costs, escalating critical issues when necessary.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of work experience, preferably in logistics or a related field.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to keep a clear overview in a fast‑paced environment.
• Hands‑on mentality; willing to roll up sleeves and act independently.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with planners, drivers, and colleagues.
• Motivation and interest in international logistics, even without prior industry experience.

Required skills

• Fluent in Italian.
• Fluent in English.
