Vehicle Technician

About the role

The United Nations Global Service Centre in Brindisi is seeking a Vehicle Technician to refurbish its UN‑owned fleet in line with OEM standards and industry best practices. This six‑month consultancy supports the 3R Programme of the Supply Chain Service, ensuring vehicles are safe, functional, and presentable for UN operations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Remove, weld, reinstall and align body panels, doors, hoods, tailgates and related hardware, adjusting gaps for proper fit.
• Patch dents, eliminate rust, and prepare surfaces for refinishing, including sanding and grinding.
• Replace damaged components such as bumpers, fenders, trims, and perform welding of replacement parts.
• Mask, prime, and paint surfaces using spray guns or brushes, applying wax for long‑term protection.
• Remove and refit moldings, seals, badges, lamps and interior/exterior trim, ensuring watertight installation.
• Replace and repair automotive glass, conducting water‑leak checks after installation.
• Operate and maintain body‑shop equipment safely, keeping the workspace clean and disposing of waste properly.
• Conduct post‑repair inspections, document non‑conformities, and report all services performed.
• Assist in identifying required materials and parts and perform any related tasks as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in vehicle body repair and refinishing.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Chief, 3R Programme and follow UN safety procedures.

Required skills

• Welding and metal panel alignment.
• Dent removal and surface preparation.
• Automotive painting (spray gun, brush) and coating application.
• Automotive glass replacement and leak testing.
• Operation of body‑shop tools such as grinders, sanders, dent pullers, and welders.
• Safety compliance in a workshop environment.
