Warehouse Team Leader

About the role

Portwest is looking for a hands‑on Warehouse Team Leader to launch and run the day‑to‑day activities of a new warehouse in Sulbiate. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead operatives and forklift drivers, ensuring smooth inbound, storage and outbound processes while upholding a strong health‑and‑safety culture in a fast‑paced PPE environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the assigned shift covering goods‑in, order picking, packing, replenishment and dispatch.
• Motivate and supervise the team to meet shift targets and operational KPIs.
• Allocate workloads, monitor performance and address absenteeism or training needs.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, hygiene and PPE handling procedures.
• Conduct shift briefings/debriefings and maintain accurate records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Assist with stock counts, audits and investigate discrepancies or damages.
• Escalate operational issues to the Warehouse Shift Manager or Operations Manager as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a warehouse supervisory or team‑leader role.
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, KPIs and productivity standards.
• Good level of English for communication and system use.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Flexibility to perform operational tasks as part of a small team.

Required skills

• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP platforms.
• Forklift operation licence or demonstrated forklift handling experience.
