Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Energy Dome is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its fast‑growing team of engineers. The role focuses on the design, modelling and development of pressure equipment such as heat exchangers, pressure vessels, air receivers and steam drums for large‑scale energy storage and industrial plant applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical parts and assemblies using 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor).
• Conduct feasibility studies, tolerance analyses and design optimisations.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings, civil input drawings, detailed drawings, bills of material and technical documentation.
• Support production, procurement and quality teams during product industrialisation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (CE, PED, ASME, ISO, etc.).
• Participate in design reviews and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with vendors during RFQs, technical alignment, design review and final approval.
• Collaborate with piping and process teams to integrate designs into plant systems.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in energy, machinery or industrial plant sectors.
• Strong command of technical English; Italian is a plus.
• Availability for occasional travel to supplier sites.

Required skills

• AutoCAD and Inventor (2D/3D CAD).
• Knowledge of mechanical materials and manufacturing processes.
• Basic understanding of FEM analysis.
• Familiarity with design codes such as ASME Section VIII, EN 13445, PED and API standards.
