VHDL Design Engineer – FPGA for Space & Defence

About the role

Qascom is seeking a highly skilled VHDL Design Engineer to join its engineering team. You will contribute to the development of advanced digital systems for space and defence applications, focusing on FPGA‑based solutions that meet strict aerospace and defence standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise digital architectures using VHDL for FPGA platforms such as Xilinx, Intel and Microchip.
• Perform simulation, debugging and verification of designs with industry‑standard tools.
• Collaborate with system, hardware and software teams to define requirements and ensure seamless integration.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures and reports.
• Support reviews, audits and qualification activities in accordance with ECSS, DO‑254 or equivalent standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, methodologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in FPGA design, simulation, implementation, verification and validation.
• Eligibility for National Security Clearance.
• Advanced written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in VHDL programming.
• Experience with Xilinx Vivado tools and TCL scripting.
• Strong knowledge of digital circuit theory, digital signal processing and FPGA architectures (Xilinx, Intel, Microchip).
• Competence in Matlab and/or Octave for algorithm co‑simulation.
• Familiarity with aerospace/defence standards such as ECSS and DO‑254.
• Experience with simulation, debugging and verification tools.
