AI Engineering Internship

About the role

As an AI Engineering Intern at Expecta, you will work on real‑world AI and data‑driven projects that help clients unlock value from their proprietary data. Based in Rome, you will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists and consultants to design, develop and test machine‑learning solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean and transform client data for analysis and modeling.
• Implement, evaluate and fine‑tune machine‑learning models.
• Build and maintain data pipelines from ETL processes to visualisation layers.
• Prototype new features and document workflows.
• Write basic unit tests and ensure code quality.
• Collaborate in team discussions on solution design and optimisation.

Required profile

• Foundational programming knowledge (Python, Java or similar).
• Familiarity with version control (Git).
• Basic understanding of machine‑learning concepts and model evaluation.
• Comfort with data cleaning, transformation and analysis; SQL knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to interpret dashboards or visualisations.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
• Clear written and verbal communication; collaborative mindset.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field.
