Assistant Professor (2-year non-tenured) in Control Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a highly qualified researcher to join IMT Lucca as a 2-year non-tenured Assistant Professor in Control. The position focuses on optimization-based control of dynamical systems and offers the opportunity to develop independent research while contributing to teaching activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct original research in control theory, optimization, and related areas.
• Publish results in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in control engineering and applied mathematics.
• Supervise master’s and doctoral students.
• Participate in departmental meetings, grant proposals, and collaborative projects.

Required profile

• Doctorate (or near-completion) in Control Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
• Strong scientific background in automatic control, optimization, and applied mathematics for control.
• Thesis submitted for examination at the time of application (for candidates close to completion).
