About the role

The University of New South Wales seeks a senior academic leader to serve as Associate Dean Rural and Head of Rural Clinical Campuses. This role provides strategic and operational oversight for the university’s rural medical education sites, ensuring high‑quality teaching, research, and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior academic and clinical leadership across all Rural Clinical Campuses.
• Advise the Faculty and University on rural health strategy and policy.
• Oversee campus operations, staff stewardship, and resource optimisation.
• Integrate clinical practice, education, research and innovation within rural settings.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Local Health Districts, hospitals and community organisations.
• Support the delivery of the full six‑year medical curriculum at rural sites.

Required profile

• Established academic leader at Associate Professor or Professor level.
• Extensive experience in rural health systems and medical education.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑site operations and interdisciplinary teams.
• Full work rights in Australia.
• Willingness to travel regularly between rural and metropolitan campuses.
