Data Center Operations Engineer (DCOE) – Italy

About the role

The Data Center Operations Engineer (DCOE) ensures safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical data‑center infrastructure in Italy. Working autonomously, the DCOE acts as the main technical interface between internal teams, customers and service providers, guaranteeing service continuity and compliance with safety and contractual standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain continuous operation of electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire protection and low‑current systems, monitoring performance via BMS and other tools.
• Plan, supervise and document preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to design standards and safety procedures.
• Own the incident‑management lifecycle, conduct root‑cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Manage change processes, coordinate vendor performance against SLAs/KPIs, and lead performance reviews.
• Provide technical point‑of‑contact for customers during incidents and maintenance, supporting audits and reporting.

Required profile

• Degree in electrical, mechanical or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in operations, critical facilities or industrial environments (data‑center experience a plus).
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Hands‑on knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems, mechanical cooling and fire safety systems.
• Experience with Building Management System (BMS) and monitoring tools.
• Incident management and root‑cause analysis (RCA) expertise.
• Proficiency with CMMS or equivalent maintenance management tools.
• Change management and SLA‑driven vendor coordination.
