Head of Research Coordination and Public Relations

About the role

The Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (KHI) seeks a dynamic leader to head its Research Coordination and Public Relations Office. This three‑year position, starting 1 September 2026, will guide a small team in promoting and integrating the institute’s interdisciplinary art‑history research.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the institute’s events programme across Florence, Berlin and other locations.
• Prepare and deliver the Research Report for the Scientific Advisory Board evaluation.
• Develop and manage scholarly and institutional communication, including corporate identity and intranet content.
• Integrate diverse research activities into a shared institutional framework.
• Maintain and strengthen media relations and public visibility of KHI.
• Collaborate with research groups, Max‑Planck Society coordinators, and report to the institute’s directors.

Required profile

• Scholarly background in the History of Art or Architecture.
• Collegial, enthusiastic, flexible, and solution‑oriented working style.
• Experience in coordinating research projects and public relations activities.
• Ability to lead a small team and manage interdisciplinary communication.

Required skills

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Project coordination and event management experience.
• Familiarity with institutional reporting and media outreach.
