Project Engineering Lead – Automated Distribution Center

About the role

Nestlé Purina is launching a new greenfield manufacturing site in Mantova, Italy. The Project Engineering Lead will drive the engineering, implementation and commissioning of a highly automated logistics facility that supports the new production lines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering execution and coordinate multidisciplinary workstreams (civil, structural, MEP, fire protection, automation, logistics systems).
• Manage internal teams, suppliers, contractors and system integrators, ensuring clear scope, interfaces and delivery expectations.
• Oversee safe project execution from design through construction, installation, commissioning and start‑up.
• Apply project‑management practices for planning, scheduling, risk management, change control and stakeholder alignment.
• Ensure integration of logistics automation with manufacturing operations, utilities, digital systems and maintenance.
• Drive operational readiness, ramp‑up and structured handover to operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects within large‑scale capital investment programmes.
• Background in automated logistics, distribution centres or manufacturing logistics integration.
• Strong safety mindset and ability to influence safe behaviours across contractors and teams.
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0, Lean, Kaizen and continuous‑improvement principles.
• Leadership skills that promote an inclusive, collaborative work environment.
