Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Tuotempo is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to shape the next generation of its AI‑powered healthcare platform. You will design and build scalable, real‑time backend services that power voice and chat AI applications, enabling seamless patient engagement across multiple channels.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain robust backend services for conversational AI products.
• Lead a small team of engineers, providing technical guidance and code reviews.
• Design cost‑effective, highly scalable distributed systems and integrate them with existing infrastructure.
• Prototype and evaluate new AI and real‑time technologies, collaborating closely with AI/LLM engineers.
• Integrate third‑party APIs such as Twilio, WhatsApp, ElevenLabs, and OpenAI.
• Implement real‑time communication features using WebSockets and streaming.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and operational support.
• Document solutions and facilitate knowledge transfer within the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience building large‑scale backend systems for AI or real‑time applications.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide a small engineering team.
• Hands‑on expertise in integrating third‑party communication APIs.
• Ability to experiment with emerging AI technologies and deliver production‑ready prototypes.
