About the role
The Guest Services Officer provides friendly, passionate, and committed support to guests onboard, ensuring a high level of satisfaction through active listening and problem resolution. This position requires a strong sense of humor and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced hospitality environment for a 5‑6 month contract.
Key responsibilities
- Listen to guest concerns, extend assistance, and resolve issues promptly.
- Handle cash transactions, understand US currency and exchange rates, and maintain accurate records.
- Operate basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, and copy machines.
- Communicate tactfully with guests, department heads, and shipboard staff to negotiate resolutions.
- Maintain a professional and positive demeanor at all times.
Required profile
- Minimum one year of experience in a customer‑contact role within the hotel or related industry.
- At least one year of cash‑handling experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Willingness to work onboard for 5‑6 months.
- Clear spoken and written English; additional languages (Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish) are essential.
Required skills
- Cash handling and knowledge of US currency and exchange rates.
- Operation of basic office equipment (telephone, computer, copy machine).
