Backend QA Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Backend QA Engineer to ensure the reliability, performance and scalability of our backend systems. You will focus on testing APIs, databases and services while working closely with engineers in our Lisbon office.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute tests for backend APIs, databases and service integrations.
• Validate API functionality and performance using tools such as Postman or Swagger.
• Test database operations, queries and data integrity in PostgreSQL.
• Review pull requests to ensure code quality and adequate test coverage.
• Develop and maintain automated tests for backend services.
• Identify reliability or performance issues in backend infrastructure.
• Document defects, test cases and results using TestRail or similar tools.
• Collaborate with developers and product teams to improve testing strategies.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of experience with backend technologies and quality assurance.
• Hands‑on experience with Node.js and TypeScript in backend environments.
• Familiarity with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Experience testing REST APIs using Postman, Swagger or comparable tools.
