Buyer – Purchasing Specialist

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a motivated Buyer to support both New Product Introduction (NPI) and High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) programs. You will be responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, machinery, and services for state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facilities, collaborating across teams to ensure seamless supply.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure continuity of supply to support manufacturing requirements while meeting quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Manage purchase orders, monitor supplier deliveries, resolve receiving and invoicing issues, and maintain compliance with established purchasing processes.
• Proactively drive supplier performance to ensure on‑time delivery of parts and materials to manufacturing sites.
• Partner with suppliers on demand and supply planning, including pull‑in and push‑out execution.
• Drive inventory optimisation initiatives, including excess and obsolete inventory reduction.
• Lead RFQ activities and execute sourcing strategies to achieve competitive pricing while balancing quality, lead time, and risk.
• Support commercial negotiations with suppliers to achieve cost, lead‑time, and operational improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, procurement or supplier management in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
• Fluent English communication.

Required skills

• SAP.
• ERP procurement systems.
• Knowledge of Build‑to‑Print components, CNC‑machined parts and electromechanical products.
