Cybersecurity Architect – Security Assessment Expert

About the role

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Architect to support the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) within its Digital Transformation, AI and Data directorate. The role focuses on ensuring that information systems are securely designed, correctly implemented, and compliant with Commission security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide security architecture advisory, reviewing system designs and recommending improvements.
• Conduct security assessments of cloud (AWS/Azure) and on‑premise environments, identifying vulnerabilities and verifying control implementation.
• Produce structured security reports, including executive summaries, technical findings, risk ratings and remediation guidance.
• Offer technical guidance on emerging threats, mitigation strategies and best practices, especially around cloud security and generative AI risks.
• Collaborate with developers, IT providers and system owners in a multicultural, international setting.

Required profile

• Strong experience in secure system architecture for both cloud (AWS, Azure) and on‑premise environments.
• Hands‑on knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools and remediation workflows.
• Proven ability to produce high‑quality security and architecture documentation.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Analytical mindset for risk evaluation and mitigation decisions.
• Awareness of modern cybersecurity trends, including AI‑related risks.
