Field Service Engineer

About the role

Johnson & Johnson's Surgery division is looking for a Field Service Engineer in Pomezia, Italy. The engineer installs, maintains and repairs electrosurgical systems, ultrasound scalpels and robotic systems at customers' premises, working with Clinical Engineers and Hospital Technicians and proposing technical assistance solutions. The position sits in the Customer Management sub-function of Technical Field Service.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair equipment marketed and owned by the division within the assigned territory
• Liaise with customers on technical and commercial matters, working closely with the Sales Force
• Provide technical and functional support, remote guidance and fault diagnosis, including repairs involving spare parts and connection work
• Promote and sell technical service contracts, prepare repair quotations and support commercial negotiations
• Prepare documentation confirming services and repairs, and contribute to technical service tenders and equipment specifications
• Deliver technical training to clinical engineers and operating room staff when required, and support the Sales Force during trials
• Propose improvements to reduce costs and enhance service, and propose procedure updates to the Quality function
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and ISO standards, and keep up to date through training

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering (preferably biomedical, mechanical or electronic) or equivalent
• More than 12 months of experience in after-sales technical assistance
• Upper-intermediate English (B2)
• Type B driving licence

Required skills

• Knowledge of IEC 60601 and IEC EN 62353
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
• Preferred: SAP Field Service Management, repair management, project management office (PMO) and service request management
