Global Purchasing Specialist – Direct Materials

About the role

KONE, a global leader in elevators and escalators, is seeking a Global Purchasing Specialist for Direct Materials within its Projects and Modernization Procurement team. The role focuses on sourcing, negotiating and managing suppliers for modernization, control systems and network solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Work with business functions to understand material needs.
• Manage purchasing activities, including contracts, price negotiations and RFQ processes.
• Act as contract owner for direct‑material suppliers and support global/area category plans.
• Identify and drive cost‑saving initiatives to improve profitability.
• Manage supplier quality and on‑time delivery in collaboration with stakeholders.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in engineering, supply‑chain management or a related field.
• At least 3 years of procurement experience.
• Proven experience leading supplier negotiations and managing relationships at local, regional and global levels.
• Familiarity with SAP (asset).
• Knowledge of electrification/electronics supply markets (asset).
• Ability to work independently in a multinational environment.
• Fluent in English; Italian is a plus.
• Willingness to travel short‑term within the EU and occasionally to China.
