Guest Services Officer

About the role

The Guest Services Officer provides friendly, passionate, and committed support to guests onboard a ship, ensuring high satisfaction through active listening and problem resolution. This position requires a strong hospitality mindset, a sense of humor, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment for a 5‑6 month contract.

Key responsibilities

• Listen to guest concerns and provide timely assistance to resolve issues.
• Handle cash transactions accurately, understanding US currency and exchange rates.
• Communicate tactfully with guests, department heads, and shipboard staff to negotiate solutions.
• Operate basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, and copy machines.
• Maintain organized records and follow written procedures.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and decision‑making abilities.
• People‑oriented with a good sense of humor.
• Willingness to work onboard for 5‑6 months.

Required skills

• Minimum one year of experience in a customer‑contact role within the hotel or related industry.
• At least one year of cash‑handling experience and knowledge of US currency.
• Ability to operate office equipment (telephones, computers, copy machines).
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Fluent English (reading, writing, speaking); additional languages such as Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish are essential.
