IT Support Specialist – Manufacturing Plant

About the role

The IT Support Specialist will be the primary on‑site technology resource for a manufacturing plant, ensuring that all IT systems that support production, logistics and shop‑floor activities remain operational. This fast‑paced role requires hands‑on troubleshooting, rapid issue resolution and close collaboration with both plant staff and corporate IT teams.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for all plant IT issues, providing Level 1 and Level 2 support to operators, supervisors and plant leadership.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with workstations, laptops, printers, label printers, RF scanners, barcode systems and shop‑floor terminals.
• Assist with network connectivity issues (Wi‑Fi, wired) and log incidents in the IT service management system.
• Maintain uptime of real‑time production tracking, inventory movement and data‑capture systems on the shop floor.
• Provide basic user support for SAP‑related transactions and coordinate with central SAP teams when needed.
• Deliver hands‑on training and onboarding for new plant users, reinforcing standard processes.
• Act as the local liaison for system rollouts, upgrades and on‑site deployments, identifying recurring issues and recommending improvements.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience in IT support, help‑desk or desktop support; manufacturing environment preferred.
• Proven ability to support end‑user hardware, printers and network connectivity.
• Strong communication skills to assist non‑technical users in a production setting.
• Capacity to work under time‑sensitive, production‑critical conditions.

Required skills

• Windows operating systems.
• Hardware and peripherals (printers, scanners, RF devices).
• Basic networking (connectivity, device setup, troubleshooting).
• Familiarity with IT service management / ticketing tools.
• Basic understanding of enterprise systems such as SAP (preferred but not required).
