Italy Tax Manager

About the role

The Italy Tax Manager reports directly to the Group Tax Director and is responsible for overseeing all Italian tax matters for the Group. This senior individual contributor role ensures compliance with Italian tax regulations, manages tax risks, and supports strategic business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with corporate income tax, VAT and other applicable taxes, including preparation and filing of annual and periodic returns.
• Identify, assess and mitigate tax risks, continuously improving tax processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate with internal audit and external auditors on tax compliance activities.
• Manage current and deferred tax implications of international accounting standards such as IAS 19, IFRS 2 and IFRS 16.
• Identify tax‑saving and optimisation opportunities in line with legislation and Group policies.
• Analyse and resolve complex VAT issues, supporting the Finance function in VAT‑related accounting setups.
• Liaise with Italian tax authorities, handling inspections, inquiries and audits.
• Monitor changes in Italian tax legislation to maintain technical expertise.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Economics or Finance; Master’s in Tax Law or equivalent preferred.
• Fluent in English and Italian, both written and spoken.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Italian tax compliance and VAT, preferably within a tax advisory firm.
