Junior Web Developer

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Junior Web Developer to join its fully remote web team serving the EMEA region. You will build and maintain high‑fidelity websites and web applications, ensuring they meet Canonical’s quality standards and style guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new web pages and applications using HTML, CSS (SCSS), JavaScript, React and TypeScript.
• Maintain and update existing projects, adding content and new features.
• Collaborate with visual designers, UX designers and backend developers to deliver responsive, accessible interfaces across devices and browsers.
• Implement SEO best practices and optimise web performance.
• Participate in code reviews and use Git for version control.

Required profile

• Based in an EMEA timezone (Europe, Middle East or Africa).
• University degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong curiosity for technology and a willingness to learn.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Required skills

• HTML, CSS with SCSS.
• JavaScript and TypeScript.
• React (preferably with TypeScript).
• Responsive design and cross‑browser compatibility.
• Git or other version‑control systems.
• SEO and accessibility awareness.
• Basic familiarity with Linux desktop environments.
• Optional: Python or Node.js for server‑side integration.
