Junior Web Developer (Remote, EMEA)

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Junior Web Developer to join its fully remote web team serving the EMEA region. You will build and maintain high‑fidelity websites and web applications, ensuring they meet the company’s quality, style, and performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Create new web pages and applications using modern HTML, CSS (SCSS) and JavaScript frameworks.
• Maintain and update existing projects, adding content and new features as required.
• Collaborate with visual designers, UX designers and backend developers to deliver cohesive user experiences.
• Apply SEO best practices, accessibility guidelines, and performance optimisation techniques.
• Handle incoming feature requests and bug reports, ensuring timely delivery.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent education in a related field.
• Based in an EMEA timezone (Europe, Middle East or Africa).
• Passion for web standards, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a distributed team.

Required skills

• HTML and CSS with SCSS.
• JavaScript and TypeScript.
• React (or similar component libraries).
• Responsive UI development for multiple devices and browsers.
• Git or other version‑control systems.
• Understanding of SEO, accessibility, and web performance.
