Lawyer – Capital Market and Treasury

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a qualified lawyer to join its Capital Market and Treasury Legal Unit in Luxembourg. The role involves providing legal advice and support to the Finance and Risk Management Directorates on capital market and treasury operations, structured products, and emerging digital finance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on capital markets, treasury activities, funding, liquidity management and derivatives.
• Advise on the design and documentation of financial instruments, structured products and innovative digital finance solutions.
• Contribute to the legal framework for the Bank’s funding programmes, issuance documentation and disclosure matters.
• Analyse legal and financial risks, propose mitigation measures and support pricing frameworks.
• Assist in structuring and executing treasury transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory and prudential policies.
• Maintain relationships with national and international financial institutions, external counterparties and law firms.
• Participate in cross‑functional strategic projects and stay updated on relevant legislative developments.

Required profile

• University degree in law (Bachelor level minimum) with a focus on financial, banking or business law.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in capital markets, treasury, or banking law.
• Proven ability to work in a multicultural, international environment.
• Strong analytical skills and the capacity to draft and review complex legal documents.
