Lead Java Microservices Engineer – Automotive

About the role

Publicis Sapient is looking for a Lead Engineer specializing in Java microservices in Milan. You will lead the design, development and implementation of scalable, high-performance microservices-based solutions and work closely with product managers, architects, designers and engineering teams to deliver Java-based solutions that support digital transformation for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Java-based microservices architectures, ensuring scalability, performance and security.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, designers and engineering teams to define technical roadmaps and deliver business-critical solutions.
• Implement best practices for microservices development, including API design, service discovery and fault tolerance.
• Optimize Java applications for cloud-native environments using Kubernetes, Docker and serverless technologies.
• Drive automation and CI/CD best practices for rapid and reliable deployment of microservices.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers.

Required profile

• Significant experience in Java development with a strong focus on microservices architecture.
• Fluent in Italian and English.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps best practices.

Required skills

• Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Quarkus and other Java frameworks for cloud-native applications.
• RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar.
• Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift; cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Preferred: certifications in Java, Spring or cloud technologies; React and Next.js; API gateways, service mesh and distributed tracing; headless CMS such as Contentstack.
