Learning & Development Manager

About the role

As the Learning & Development Manager for Mandarin Oriental Rome, you will lead the creation and delivery of learning initiatives that support the hotel’s luxury service standards and business objectives. You will work closely with senior leaders to foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring colleagues at all levels have the skills and knowledge to exceed guest expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Champion Mandarin Oriental’s vision, values and service philosophy by embedding a culture of learning, growth and excellence throughout the hotel.
• Design and implement a pre‑opening and post‑opening learning strategy aligned with business priorities and guest experience goals.
• Partner with senior leaders to identify talent, build succession pipelines and support performance and career development.
• Create innovative learning experiences, including onboarding, leadership development, service excellence, digital learning and functional skills training.
• Facilitate workshops and development programmes for staff, managers and senior leadership.
• Conduct annual learning needs analysis and translate insights into actionable development plans.
• Coach leaders and colleagues to nurture high‑performing teams and career growth.
• Build and inspire a network of departmental trainers to sustain a strong learning culture.
• Monitor learning effectiveness using data, feedback and performance outcomes, providing regular insights to hotel leadership.
• Manage the learning calendar, training resources and learning systems to ensure a seamless colleague experience.
• Collaborate with external providers and corporate teams to bring best‑in‑class development solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in learning and development within the hospitality or luxury service sector.
• Strong partnership skills with senior leadership and ability to influence talent strategies.
• Excellent facilitation and coaching abilities.
• Analytical mindset with experience measuring learning impact and reporting insights.
• Ability to design and deliver engaging learning programmes for diverse audiences.
