Mechanical Engineer – HVAC R&D

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Research & Development team of a leading HVAC solutions provider. The role is based in Monza e Brianza and focuses on the design and development of A2W & W2A heat pump and chiller products.

Key responsibilities

• Design heat pump mechanical components (refrigerant, hydraulic, aeraulic circuits, structural parts, insulation) using 2D/3D CAD tools.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to optimise performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Support prototyping and production activities, ensuring design inputs are integrated across mechanical, electrical, software and thermodynamics domains.
• Interface with suppliers during design and construction phases to achieve cost‑effective solutions while meeting quality standards.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials, coordinate coding and revision control with the supply chain.
• Prepare assembly documentation following Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Report progress, plan workload and deadlines under R&D supervision.
• Participate in non‑conformity analysis and propose corrective actions.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in technical offices within the HVAC sector.
• Strong knowledge of bent sheet‑metal structures and complex refrigeration piping.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modelling software.
• Understanding of refrigerant circuits, thermodynamics, hydraulics and related components (pumps, fans, valves, insulation, heat exchangers).
• Advanced skills in Excel and simulation tools.
• Basic to upper‑basic level of English.
