Part-Time Facilities & Health & Safety Assistant

About the role

The Part‑Time Facilities and Health & Safety Assistant supports daily operations, maintenance and safety across all HFIS campuses in Venice. Reporting to the Facilities and H&S Manager, you will help ensure that buildings, grounds and equipment meet local health‑and‑safety standards while providing practical support for school activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Facilities and H&S Manager in coordinating daily maintenance, cleaning and repair tasks.
• Conduct regular site inspections, report issues promptly and liaise with contractors to ensure safe, standards‑compliant work.
• Set up, dismantle and move equipment and furniture for classes, meetings and events.
• Maintain records of maintenance requests, invoices, quotes and service reports.
• Support implementation of H&S policies, perform routine checks of fire safety, first‑aid and emergency equipment, and keep risk assessments and incident logs up to date.
• Help organise H&S training, fire and lockdown drills, and manage hazardous material compliance.
• Provide on‑site assistance for events, including venue preparation, security procedures and facility access.

Required profile

• Previous experience in facilities, maintenance or H&S support, preferably in an educational setting.
• Good understanding of building safety and maintenance practices.
• Strong organisational, multitasking and communication abilities.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for school events.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
