PLC & Automation Programmer (B&R, International Deployments)

About the role

AETHERION is expanding its engineering team and is hiring a PLC & Automation Programmer to work closely with one of its key industrial clients. The role combines software development with practical engineering, commissioning and on-site technical support, and involves frequent international travel and extended deployments at client facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop PLC, motion control and HMI software from design through testing and commissioning.
• Design intuitive operator interfaces, including remote access, and write structured, documented code to company standards.
• Integrate drives, sensors, communication networks and safety devices.
• Manage projects across automation platforms and oversee FAT/SAT and on-site support.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering and the service team.
• Travel frequently, including extended assignments within Italy and abroad, and adapt to different industrial environments.

Required profile

• Mandatory: at least 3-5 years of hands-on experience on real-world B&R automation projects.
• Good working knowledge of Rockwell Automation (ControlLogix and CompactLogix).
• Desirable: Siemens TIA Portal, SCL and PROFINET experience.
• Comfortable working internationally and away from home for long periods.

Required skills

• B&R Automation Studio, Automation Runtime and mapp (mapp Motion, AlarmX, Recipe, View), ACOPOS motion control, POWERLINK, X20, OPC UA, IEC 61131-3 (Structured Text); C/C++ and Visual Components are advantages.
• Studio 5000 Logix Designer, Ladder Logic and Structured Text, EtherNet/IP; FactoryTalk View and Kinetix/PowerFlex are advantages.
