Professor of Research Physiology & Neuroscience

About the role

The University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine seeks a faculty member to lead an independent research laboratory focused on translational basic‑science studies of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The professor will also contribute to collaborative projects within the Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) Neuroscience Translational Research Division (NTRD) in San Diego.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and manage an independent lab investigating translational mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease.
• Design, plan, and execute experimental studies in coordination with NTRD principal investigators and collaborators.
• Mentor junior scientists and PhD candidates, fostering their professional development.
• Publish high‑impact research findings in leading neuroscience journals.
• Participate actively in interdisciplinary collaborations across the ATRI network.

Required profile

• Demonstrated track record of independent research in Alzheimer’s disease translational science.
• Experience working within collaborative research groups.
• Strong mentorship abilities for junior researchers.
• Excellent oral and written scientific communication skills.
• Recognized technical and scientific leadership evidenced by a robust publication record.
