Project Engineer - Chemical Engineering

About the role

Gnosis by Lesaffre, a business unit of Lesaffre focused on nutritional actives, probiotics and functional yeasts, is looking for a Project Engineer to lead engineering projects and support continuous improvement at its production plant in Pisticci. The role manages projects from conception to completion, working with a multidisciplinary team while ensuring safety, quality, timeline and cost objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for capital investments
• Plan, coordinate and manage engineering projects from launch through design and mechanical completion
• Control project budgets and align timelines and costs with the Executive Plan
• Develop basic and detailed designs of plants and equipment in line with HSE, GMP, FDA and ISO standards
• Prepare technical documentation such as URs, specifications, drawings and manuals
• Supervise installation, support maintenance integration, and supervise FAT and SAT of third-party equipment
• Manage supplier contracts, evaluate and select suppliers, and manage quality and safety non-compliance risks
• Manage interfaces with Safety, Production, Quality and Maintenance, and support validation and qualification activities
• Analyse process data to find improvement opportunities, support fault analysis, and train operators
• Promote Industry 4.0/5.0 solutions, conduct risk assessments, and maintain the technical archive and SOPs

Required profile

• Degree in chemical engineering
• Knowledge of machinery and industrial processes in the nutraceutical-pharmaceutical field (osmosis, microfiltration, nanofiltration, drying, evaporation, wastewater treatment, clean steam, etc.)
• Experience preparing P&IDs, technical specifications and construction drawings
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Team player with problem-solving, reliability, flexibility and fast learning
