About the role
We are seeking a researcher (Ricercatore) to join the CONCERT project at Elettra—Sincrotrone Trieste. The project, funded by an ERC Synergy Grant, aims to visualise and control ultrafast molecular dynamics at conical intersections using the FERMI free‑electron laser.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and operate a movable experimental setup on the FERMI beamline.
- Develop and execute ultrafast spectroscopy experiments targeting conical intersections.
- Collaborate with physicists, chemists, materials scientists and engineers within the interdisciplinary team.
- Analyse high‑resolution soft‑X‑ray data and interpret quantum‑mechanical electronic coherences.
- Contribute to publications and dissemination of project results.
Required profile
- PhD or equivalent in physics, chemistry, materials science or a related discipline.
- Early‑career researcher with a strong interest in ultrafast dynamics and photochemistry.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Required skills
- Experience with ultrashort soft‑X‑ray pulse generation.
- Knowledge of nonlinear optical spectroscopy techniques.
- Familiarity with free‑electron laser beamline operation and data acquisition.
